Welcome to the blog! I'm Madison, and I am a wedding photographer based in Huntsville, Alabama. This blog will allow you to browse my work and get to know me a little better. I hope you enjoy!
I have been wanting to make a blog about our trip to Charleston and Savannah since we got back in August, but of course I’m just now getting around to it. It was such a pretty trip. I enjoyed getting to visit the east coast with my mom and MaMa for the first time. If you know me, you know I love seeing new places and photographing them. If you REALLY know me, you know I am terrified at even the thought of getting on a plane. So, I haven’t really done much traveling, even though I have a lot of places I want to see. The eight hour drive that somehow turned into eleven hours was worth it in the end. After this trip, I can say the only states I have been in are Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. Also, instead of writing long paragraphs about the trip, I think I will leave captions under each picture. They are a mix of iPhone pictures and DSLR images (:
We began in Charleston, and the Mills House was one of my favorite buildings in the historic district.
We ate breakfast at Toast and stopped at the fancy cafe on the right for refreshments throughout the day. It was HOT in Charleston.
We took a horse carriage tour in Charleston (so much fun). The main points I remember were speakeasies were also called “Blind Tigers”. There is also a square in Charleston that holds a church, bank, courthouse, and post office all in one square (I think I got that right). The guide referred to the corners as “Hell, Mail, Bail, and Jail.”
The Mills House was my favorite.
The very famous Rainbow Row… Somehow we had a section where no cars were parked so I could get a picture. That was my main struggle in Charleston… so many cars everywhere that you couldn’t get a good picture.
There are two other places in Charleston we enjoyed that aren’t mentioned… The Pineapple Fountain and Market St.
The bridge from Charleston to Mount Pleasant is pretty cool.
We then went to Savannah after two days into our trip. Forsyth Park was my FAVORITE place of the entire trip.
This woman was walking her “dog,” but it actually had A LOT of wolf in it. I don’t know why but it makes me think of the movie Balto.
This was the only good picture we got together.
We ate at the Olde Pink House on our first night in Savannah.
Highly recommend getting a Trolley Pass in Savannah. It was very interesting and drops you off at all of the interesting spots.
The Crab Shack in Tybee Island is a must visit specifically for the environment and the CATS (they are up to date on their shots lol).
We took a couple of hours to visit Tybee as it was about to storm. I had never seen a lighthouse until then.
At our last night in Savannah, we ate at Vinnie Van Go-Go’s pizza. The slices were HUGE (my arm for reference). You HAVE to go to the market and eat here! Stop by the candy store next door after your meal(:
Our last stop before heading out was the Wormsloe plantation. It goods if you want a car-less and people-less picture, but that’s about all you can get here. I think it was $10 a person, but it was worth it for this photographer.
